The Dry Knickers Project CIC
Led by Karen Ellis - Former Midwife, mum of two, and Postnatal Recovery Expert
Hi,
I am Karen Ellis,

After years of supporting women during pregnancy, after birth and beyond, I saw the same problem again and again:
Women simply weren’t being given the pelvic health and recovery support they deserved — whether they were newly postnatal, years after having babies, or navigating perimenopause and menopause.
I created The Dry Knickers Project CIC to change that.
Every woman — regardless of income, age, location or circumstance — deserves access to the education and support that helps her understand her pelvic floor, recover confidently after birth, and stay strong through midlife and beyond.

Women Are Being Let Down, And it's Time to Change.

Most women are never taught how to look after their pelvic floor.
Most women are never shown how to recover properly after having a baby.
And most women aren’t given the guidance they need to stay strong through perimenopause and menopause — or to feel confident exercising in gyms without making symptoms worse.
Because of this, so many women live with bladder leaks, a weak core, low back pain, pelvic pain, and feeling “not strong enough”, all because they were never given the right support.

Our Mission
To make pelvic health education free, accessible, and shame-free for every woman — whether she’s recovering after birth, navigating perimenopause, or wanting to feel strong and confident in her body again.
No woman should be left with leaks, pain, or core weakness simply because she wasn’t given the right support.

How We Do It
We support women by:

• Running free online workshops on pelvic floor recovery, diastasis recti, safe, confidence-building postnatal exercise and navigating pelvic health through perimenopause and menopause.

• Creating accessible tools and resources that help women build strength at every stage of life.

• Reducing financial and social barriers, so women who cannot afford physio or coaching still receive high-quality support.

• Partnering with gyms and community organisations to create pelvic-floor-aware exercise spaces and educate fitness professionals.

• Supporting women through key transitions — early postnatal, returning to exercise, and perimenopause/menopause.

Why This Matters
Pelvic floor issues are extremely common: 1 in 3 women suffer from bladder leaks, but with the right guidance, they are highly treatable.

No woman should feel embarrassed, confused or alone when it comes to her postnatal recovery and pelvic health.
This CIC exists so I can reach more women, expand access, and work in partnership with individuals and organisations who believe pelvic health education should be free and universal.
If you’ve landed on this page after seeing a leaflet or poster, you’re in the right place — and I’m so glad you’re here.
More resources, free workshops and updates will be added soon as the CIC grows.

A great place to start is the FREE Postnatal Recovery Workshop, great for you, no matter how long ago you had your babies.

Work With or Support the CIC
