What is Diastasis? How do I know I have it?

Diastasis Recti is when the muscles that run down the front of your stomach separate during pregnancy to allow your baby to grow. This happens in most women during pregnancy and is completely normal.

In our postnatal period it is important that the Diastasis Recti heals so that we can have a functioning core, a lower back and pelvis that is supported and a pelvic floor that can do its job.

To do that we need to reactivate the muscles in our lower stomach that reach around our pelvis and to our lower back. I believe every woman should be taught this in their postnatal period so they can fully recover, have a strong functioning body and exercise safely. But unfortunately, usually, mums are not taught this.

In this workshop, I will show you how you can assess your own stomach for a Diastasis Recti. But even if you find that you do not have a Diastasis Recti and it has healed, learning how to connect with, strengthen and use the muscles that support your lower stomach, pelvis and lower back in exercise and daily movement will still be a key part of your recovery. This is true for you whether you had your baby a week, a year or a decade ago.

So this is the perfect workshop for EVERY women who has ever had a baby.

Because I feel so strongly that every women should get this information and the support to fully recover their body I have priced the workshop at a ridonkulous £29. But honestly, this is worth so much more.

Can you even put a price on a body that has fully recovered after having a baby so that you can enjoy active adventures with your children and have an old lady body that will still let you climb mountains and kick a football with your grand children.

This is for you if you......

  • Have had a baby and your stomach just hasn't been the same ever since. It might look a bit like a 'mummy pooch' or like you are still pregnant. This is a clue that your Diastasis Recti has not healed.

  • You are sick of lower back pain and you want to feel strong in your core so your lower back pain will go away and you can pick up your toddler with ease when they fall and scrape their knee.

  • You have had enough of waiting around. You are sick of the long waiting list for an NHS physio and you don't want to pay the high cost of a private physio. You want to get on with healing your core after having a baby so you can finally feel relief from lower back pain, pelvic floor weakness, pelvic pain and get on with being the active mum you always wanted to be.

  • You have a Diastasis Recti (or think you may have one) and are worried to exercise encase you make things worse. You want to feel confident when you walk into your favourite exercise class that you can exercise to your bodies ability so your Diastasis Recti can finally heal and you can enjoy the exercise you once did before you had your baby.

  • You have pelvic girdle pain that is putting a dark cloud over everything you do. You just want your core to feel strong so your pelvis is supported, your pelvic pain will ease off and you can enjoy playing in the park with your children.

  • You have been doing your pelvic floor exercises but you still get wet knickers. You want to explore Diastasis Recti and whether this might be the missing piece to the puzzle in your pelvic floor health.

This is me......

Nice to meet you!

I am Karen, a Postnatal Recovery Expert and former midwife. After deciding to leave my career as a midwife I now help mums have dry knickers, a strong core and feel confident in their bodies after having a baby so they can be the active mum they always wanted to be. I want mums to feel physically fully recovered after having a baby so they can enjoy active adventures and make gorgeous memories without worrying about whether their body can.

My approach nurtures the newly postnatal body carefully and safely into exercise. I call bull to the 'get fit quick' and 'bounce back into your pre pregnancy body' hype and encourage you to nurture your postnatal body carefully to strength giving it the time it needs to become strong and stay strong forever.

So, here I am ready to help you, a new mum, build a strong core and body, learn to acknowledge how flaming incredible it is and feel amazing in it. Let’s go!
